Laboratory Medicine

With unprecedented developments in all fields of science, laboratory medicine has seen phenomenal growth. Test results are now available almost as soon as they are generated. With developments in Quality Assurance Systems for accuracy, the advantages of early and reliable diagnosis have greatly benefited physicians, consultants and our patients.

At SPARSH we strive to achieve high levels of test accuracy through extensive internal and external quality assurance exercises. We conduct daily QA runs on each instrument besides periodic calibrations. We also participate in the EQAS run by CMC Vellore and our performance has always been Very Good.

All tests under Clinical Chemistry or Biochemistry ranging from profiles to electrophoresis, hormone assay to tumor markers are performed.

Tests on hematology analyzer, tests performed for bleeding and thrombosis conditions have helped speed up the process of treating trauma patients.

SPARSH also handles samples of histopathology and cytopathology.

Autoimmune diseases like Collagen Vascular diseases, Rheumatoid arthritis etc pose a diagnostic problem. Some basic tests in immunology to help in diagnosis are done in the Health City.

Advances in Molecular Biology have helped track diseases from point of diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring. Health City has a well equipped Molecular Diagnostic Department which carries out Real time PCR based assays.

Cytogenetics: Genetics has an increasing important role in clinical medicine. Often we have children with genetic disorders. Health City is well equipped to diagnose these disorders through Technology FISH etc.

Clinical Microbiology: We offer a broad selection of tests designed for rapid identification of causative agents of infectious diseases and prompt reporting of results.

Virology: Various tests in serology like ELISA, ELFA, CHEMILUMINISCENCE, IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC, IMMUNOTURBIDIMETRIC, TURBILATEX, RPR, etc are done for diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of viral infections.

Blood Collection (Phlebotomy)
At SPARSH we are well aware of the phobia of needles especially our pediatric patients. Our principal responsibility includes patient preparation, a neat collection of blood and other specimen collections. Pediatric patients are given special attention including an anesthetic patch if need be.
