Krishnagiri Collector to sign pact with hospital for trauma care

To save lives: The Trauma Resuscitation Centre at Hosur.

Hosur: In an initiative being the first of its kind, the Tamil Nadu Government has permitted the District Collector, Krishnagiri, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bangalore-based Sparsh Hospitals for the establishment of a Trauma Resuscitation Centre on the NH-7 under public-private partnership.

Initiated by the district administration, a dilapidated Leprosy Hospital has been totally transformed into a state-of-the art Centre.

This transformation has been entirely funded at Rs. 20 lakh by the public of Hosur, Hosur Industries Association and Hosur Small and Tiny Industries Association.

An industrialist has contributed for an X-ray machine.

With Hosur town located on the NH-7 bordering Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh more than 20 accidents are reported on an average a month.

Due to non-availability of medical aid, accident victims die while on way to hospitals.

The main objective of this centre is to stabilise the patient at the centre and en route to a major hospital, increasing his/her chances of survival during the Golden Hour.

Sparsh Hospitals has provided the required manpower including three orthopaedicians and eight nurses to run the centre round the clock free of cost.

The State Government has sanctioned funds for payment for security and sanitary workers and has also sanctioned uninterrupted supply of drugs and consumables from the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, District Collector Santhosh Babu said.

The services of the blood bank in the Government Hospital at Hosur would be utilised for treatment of accident victims.

While the patient is free to decide where he has to be taken for tertiary care, if he is taken to Sparsh Hospitals, it can charge only 50 per cent of their normal charges, the District Collector added.
