Anaesthesia & Pain Management
The hospital boasts of a highly experienced, skilled and compassionate anesthesia and intensive care team who look after patients with utmost commitment and as one of their own.
The priorities are uncompromised patient safety and attention to details. State of the art equipment and monitoring enhances safety in patient care. Regular training drills, continuing education, infection control protocols, maintenance ensure care is of the highest standard.
Pain relief is an important part of their work using regional anesthetic or parenteral techniques. A pain team closely monitors the patient comfort round the clock and has proved to be a remarkable step towards patient satisfaction. The guiding principle of the team is to make the patients stay as pain free and pleasant as possible.
The team gets involved with patient’s right from the time of admission through their surgery till they go home. This feature has made many a patient, a friend of the team for life!
What can be more enterprising and relaxing than a painless surgery?
Well, at SPARSH, we believe that pain can be eliminated by the patient himself with this automated patient controlled analgesia pump.
Do u ask how? or why?
We say use this pump to administer your pain medication as per your needs and not be dependent on any nurse. Hence you achieve a good control based on your threshold, thereby minimising side effects.
Cell Saving Machine
The Cell Saver as it is popularly called is a machine, that we use at the SPARSH hospital which helps in recycling of blood during surgery. This use of this machine during surgeries was initiated by the dept of anaesthesia, to minimize and practically avoid the use of blood or blood products during long duration surgeries such as scoliosis correction.
Evoked Potential Monitoring
While your surgery is on , you sleep painless, and you wake up with a smile! Thanks to the evoked potential monitoring, where every single trace tells us if your spinal cord is intact and if the surgery can help us relieve your problems without creating any new or without accentuating your old problems. The department of Anaesthesia works relentlessly to help you sleep safe and sound, while you are under the surgeon’s knife.
Children need a lot of love and care. We at SPARSH, provide the same with a difference. This child presented to us with Achondroplasia since birth and securing an intravenous line on him prior to surgery was indeed a challenge. As you can see, his limbs were malformed and hence securing a peripheral access was difficult. So without having caused much discomfort, the child was administered general anaesthesia and lines secured on his neck. This was one such special patient among hundreds we operated on, who is a glaring example of our "care with a difference"
