Dr. Prashant Bafna is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Immunologist at SPARSH Hospital. After completing MBBS from SDM Medical College and Hospital (Dharwad), he pursued MD in General Medicine from the well-known prestigious central government JIPMER University, Puducherry, where he underwent rigorous training for 3 years. He found a special interest in rheumatological disorders as they are most challenging both in diagnosis and management. He pursued a DM degree in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at King George’s Medical University where he was trained for 3 years. He acquired fine clinical skills in diagnosing and managing various rheumatological disorders with special training in antibody testing, crystal examination, intra-articular injections, minor salivary gland biopsy and skin biopsy. During his training, he attended various CME and workshops (National Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Myositis Workshop).
He was awarded as one of the best oral presentations in the INDO-UK rheumatology summit held at Gurgaon in march 2019 and was awarded as the best poster presentation in myoIN summit held at SGPGI, Lucknow in July 2019. His thesis was selected as an oral presentation at the national rheumatology conference (IRACON) held at Puducherry in December 2019. He was awarded a gold medal for securing the highest marks in this field from Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel. He is a member of Indian Rheumatology Association, Karnataka Rheumatology Association & Indian Medical Association. He has various publications both national & international to his credit.
Dr. Prashant Bafna has 8+ years of medical experience. He believes that detailed clinical history and examination is must before investigations for patient diagnosis. He also believes that a patient needs to be assessed as a whole, both physically and mentally to decide on the management plan. His areas of special interest include management of rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disorder, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, paediatric rheumatologic illness, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.
