Dr. Karthik Vishwanath is a board-certified, internationally trained, distinguished consultant plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon. He completed his MBBS from the acclaimed AJ institute of medical sciences, Mangalore, and pursued Masters in General Surgery(M.S) at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar medical college, Bangalore. Dr. Karthik always had an artistic, innovative, and meticulous approach towards surgery which made him super specialize further by doing Magister Chirurgiae (M.Ch) in Plastic and reconstructive surgery from the renowned M.S. Ramaiah medical college. During his training, he had the opportunity to visit and learn from various premier institutes like Tata memorial hospital Mumbai for cancer reconstruction, Ganga hospital Coimbatore for Hand surgery, and also hands-on microvascular training. He has over 14 years of surgical experience and over 10 years of experience in the field of Plastic surgery at both medical colleges and private hospitals. As an Assistant professor in plastic surgery at K.S. Hegde medical Academy Mangalore he enjoyed teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate students from the University.  He started his career as a consultant plastic surgeon in Mangalore (NITTE University) where he built his reputation and received acclaim & appreciation from his patients and peers. During his time here he handled many complex and high-profile cases. catering to patients from Mangalore, neighboring districts, and Kerala. Dr. Karthik has worked for the NHS in England and gained higher levels of skill and finesse in inpatient care which he is well known for. His holistic approach towards patients and their management has helped him develop excellent rapport with patients. His specialty interests led him to complete a fellowship in Breast and Microvascular surgery from the World Famous center i.e Broomfield hospital, Chelmsford, UK. Here he was trained under prominent and celebrated surgeons of international repute. He further went on to pursue an International training fellowship from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, one of the top high volume centers in the UK catering to the entire East of England. On return from the UK, Dr. Karthik was associated with Fortis Cunningham Road as consultant plastic surgeon mainly focusing on trauma and onco reconstruction while also working at various hospitals across Bangalore. He was mainly into aesthetic surgery practice pertaining to liposuction, breast surgeries, rhinoplasties and hair transplantation. Dr. Karthik has appeared in several TV Shows, radio interviews, and talks on awareness of different subspecialties in Plastic surgery to the general public and also for doctors from other specialties. He was actively involved in the team which was instrumental in setting up and managing the BURNS UNIT in his previous hospital. He has taken part in Rural camps and done charitable Plastic surgery for the poor. He has contributed to scientific research and publications in the field of plastic surgery.
