IVF The HSG Test or Hysterosalpingography is a medical procedure that uses a contrast medium injected into the uterus and X-rays to evaluate the condition of the uterus and fallopian tubes. It helps determine the shape and patency of the fallopian tubes and the shape of the uterine cavity. It is typically done during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle and takes about 5 minutes. It can be a bit painful, and over-the-counter pain relievers or antibiotics may be prescribed to alleviate discomfort.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure where eggs are collected from the ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized embryo is then allowed to grow for a few days before being transferred into the woman's uterus to increase the chance of pregnancy. The embryos are grown until the Blastocyst stage, where they are more likely to implant into the uterus. Surplus embryos can be frozen for later use, and if there are sperm quality issues, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is used to fertilize the egg.
IUI Treatment involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to increase the chances of fertilization. It is used to facilitate the fertilization process by increasing the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes.
ICSI Treatment is the injection of a sperm into an egg, used for severe male infertility. It's a specialized form of IVF where eggs are retrieved from a woman and injected with a single sperm from the partner.
PGD and PGS are genetic testing procedures performed on embryos created through IVF and ICSI. PGD is used to detect specific inherited genetic conditions, while PGS is used to check for chromosomal abnormalities that can cause failed implantation, miscarriages, or Down's syndrome.
Sperm freezing is also known as cryopreservation or semen banking is a technique of preserving sperms by freezing and storing in liquid nitrogen at the temperature of -196⁰C that is used on a later date for fertilizing an egg.
