Dr. Goutham Kumar has recently joined as a senior consultant in HBP and liver & Pancreas transplant surgery at SPARSH group of hospitals, which has a multi-disciplinary program specializing in Liver & pancreas transplantation and Hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery. He is experienced in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for the advanced liver and pancreatic cancer. He was at Manipal group of hospitals and Apollo Indraprastha, New Delhi before joining SPARSH hospitals and accumulated vast experience in both Deceased donor liver transplantation and Living donor liver transplantation. He was involved in developing pancreas transplant program at Manipal hospitals. He graduated from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore and went on to pursue his surgical residency in Grant Medical College in Mumbai. He completed his abdominal multi-organ transplant surgery from the renowned University of Pittsburgh in United States. He is a member of American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), The Transplantation Society (TTS), International Society for Liver transplantation (ILTS) and International Xenotransplantation Association (IXA). His research interest includes AI in transplantation, Genomics of liver cancer and xenotransplantation. He has multiple publications in renowned journals like Gut, Journal of Hepatology, Diabetes, Xenotransplantation, Cell Transplantation and more. He won multiple awards for his work in the liver cancer and xenotransplantation including ILTS scholarship award.
