Dr. M M Abbas is a consultant Neurologist at SPARSH Hospital. He received his neurology training at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) . He started his carrier as assistant professor in Neurology at M S Ramaiah hospital, Bangalore. His keen interest in the field of Parkinson’s and movement disorders led him joining Dr. Uday Muthane at Parkinson’s and ageing research foundation. He later pursued his clinical fellowship in Parkinson’s and movement disorders at the National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore, a center of excellence in Parkinson’s disease.

After his return to India, he is associated with Parkinson’s and ageing research foundation, Bangalore as a consultant. Here he is involved in clinical care, research, and training students of allied specialties in the field of Parkinson’s and movement disorders. He was a visiting faculty at Aster hospitals. Over the last decade, he has dedicated his services to the management of patients affected with Parkinson’s and movement disorders. He envisions of providing a holistic care to the patients affected with these disorders, spreading awareness among the caregivers, public and furthering research in this domain. He has conducted several programmes and attended various talk shows on patient education. The MEB Survey in 2022 recognized him as the top doctor in South India in the field of movement disorders. He is an author of several book chapters and has more than 30 research publications in various national and international journals. 


His area of expertise includes Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia, chorea, tics and other movement disorders. He has a special interest in functional surgeries in movement disorders and has a rich experience of more than a decade on the pre and post-operative care of Deep Brain Stimulation subjects. He is a member of international movement disorder society, movement disorder society of India and Indian academy of Neurology.

Apart from his professional carrier, Dr Abbas is an avid reader. He has special interest in philosophy, economics, and international affairs. He believes in the idea of continuous learning, unlearning, and relearning for a productive life.
