About Dr. Rajkiran K. Deshpande is a European board-certified transplant surgeon with focused expertise in kidney and pancreas transplantation, dialysis access, and Multiorgan retrieval surgery. With over six years of post-residency experience, he brings a solid foundation in both living and cadaveric organ transplantation from leading institutions in the United Kingdom.
He currently serves as a Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Transplant Surgery at SPARSH Group of Hospitals, Sarjapur Road, with a clinical interest in vascular access creation, solid organ transplantation, and organ preservation. Dr. Deshpande holds a FEBS in Multiorgan and Kidney Transplantation, having trained at two of the UK’s highest-volume transplant centers—Manchester Royal Infirmary and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham—both affiliated with top-tier universities.
Dr. Rajkiran has independently performed and assisted in over 150 renal transplants, including both living donor and deceased donor procedures, as well as pancreas transplants and islet cell surgeries. He has also conducted more than 100 vascular access surgeries, including complex AV fistulas, grafts, and PD catheter insertions, and is certified by NHSBT for Multiorgan procurement as a lead trainer for northwest region of UK. His clinical work is complemented by a robust academic portfolio, with multiple publications and international conference presentations on transplant surgery, dialysis, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence in organ donation. He is a recipient of several national and international awards, accolades and recognitions for his contribution to medical & surgical field.
An active educator and mentor, Dr. Deshpande is faculty for MRCS/ BSS/ SSSHP/ ATLS surgical training at the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and continues to contribute to transplant research, surgical simulation, and public health awareness in India and abroad.
