Dr. Vinod Kumar Subramanian is a highly accomplished Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon with over 18 years of experience in managing complex cardiac and thoracic conditions. He completed his MCh in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, where he trained under renowned surgeons including Dr. Shiv K. Nair and Dr. Balaram Airan.
He further refined his expertise through extensive clinical experience at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, under Dr. S. Vijay Shankar and Dr. L.F. Sridhar, and at Fortis Hospitals, Bengaluru, under Dr. Vivek Jawali. He has also undergone advanced international fellowship training in Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS), chest wall reconstruction, and heart and lung transplantation at leading institutions in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the USA.
Prior to joining SPARSH Hospital, Dr. Vinod served as the Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Manipal Hospital, Salem. Under his leadership, the department was transformed into one of the region’s leading cardiac surgery units, performing over 1,000 complex surgeries within two years with outstanding clinical outcomes. He established Salem’s first minimally invasive cardiac surgery program and pioneered the city’s first successful ECMO program.
